Howl by queer Beat poet Allen Ginsberg,
set to music and performed by visiting bard CBXTN the Fig. Free lecture and performance tonight, 10/2 at 5pm at Thirsty's, 3516 Forest Hill Ave. ~1 hour
The poem that put its publisher on trial for obscenity: a critique of capitalism (Moloch), a profaning of the holy, a celebration of queer and marginal life, and a challenge to who defines sane.
Content note: strong language, sex, drug use, and references self harm.
Two corrections to this week's βthis weekβpost: Wed 10/7 is N/A Lounge, and Wed 10/14 is Queer Horizons Book Club reading Blackfish City.
